The 20 hour yoga teacher training is designed for both yoga enthusiasts seeking to deepen their own practice (is that you?) and yoga instructors wanting to diversify their classes.

The training covers a comprehensive curriculum, including the principles of Yin Yoga, asanas, and the difference between aesthetic and functional alignment.

But what I really love is how this course dives into the relationship between Yin Yoga and meridians. With an emphasis on Eastern practices (and a serene location!),

Okay, listen. San Miguel de Allende is the absolute cutest little town in Mexico. It has a rich culture, stunning cobblestone streets, and the loveliest people. It’s one of the top destinations in Mexico both for foreigners and Mexican nationals. (My landlord got married there!)

This teacher training course will give you a cultural immersion just as much as an immersion into yoga knowledge. You’ll practice yoga in the traditional casita and be a part of an intimate group of just 10 people.

What I love most about the curriculum is that it incorporates teachings from Tantra yoga philosophy (my lineage), women’s wisdom, Ayurveda, and indigenous wisdom of Mexico.

This is the teacher training in Mexico for you if you’re looking for a rich cultural experience

21 Day 200-Hour Immersion Yoga Teacher Training in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca

  • Location: Casa Naia, Rancho la parota El Tomatal, Puerto Escondido, San Pedro Mixtepec, Oaxaca, Mexico
  • Setting: Beach
  • Yoga Styles: Hatha Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Nidra Yoga
  • Cancellation Policy: A reservation requires a deposit of 25% of the total price. The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is canceled. The rest of the payment should be paid 1 day before arrival.

  • Who this is for: Yogis looking for an intimate and personal experience

Oaxaca is my favorite state in all of Mexico because it has the best food. There are so many types of moles I didn’t know about and I’d be glad to explore. Puerto Escondido is a surf town on the Pacific Coast that boasts beautiful sunsets and good waves.

As for the teacher training, the program is limited to just 14 students, ensuring a personalized experience and fostering an atmosphere of intimacy and focused learning.

This yoga training stands out to me because of its emphasis on alignment and functional anatomy through the lens of ‘Conscious Hatha,’ a form of yoga that corrects postural habits and unconscious movements, offering a thorough understanding of each asana.

You’ll acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in areas like kinesiology, functional anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics. This comprehensive understanding will enable you to practice any style of yoga with awareness and safety, minimizing the risk of injury.

You’ll learn to use different props, design engaging classes, and develop verbal clarity. This will become especially useful when you’re teaching a yoga class to students that vary in skill level, body type, and overall health.

If you’re not planning on teaching yoga, then you’ll learn invaluable expertise about postural alignment for yourself and your own asana practice.

You’ll also have the chance to participate in sacred rituals and Satsangs, nourishing your spiritual development.

This sounds like an absolutely magical experience. It seems like a beautiful yoga retreat center and teacher training for first timers.

Common questions about yoga teacher training courses in Mexico

Still got questions about what kind of yoga teacher training Mexico offers? Here are the most commonly asked questions and then tips for finding the best yoga teacher training for you.

What does the course fee include?

Diving into a yoga teacher training in Mexico is an all-encompassing experience that takes care of your needs so you can focus on deepening your yoga journey. Generally, the course fee covers more than just the training itself. It often includes comfortable accommodation, nourishing meals, and all the required study materials. This means once you’re there, you can let go of the mundane worries and truly immerse yourself in the transformative experience.

What’s the accommodation like?

Your yoga journey in Mexico is set to be as comfortable as it is enlightening. Accommodation varies depending on the specific training, but you’ll typically find yourself staying in tranquil, cozy spaces designed to promote relaxation and reflection. Whether you’re nestled in a private room or sharing with fellow yogis, these spaces provide the perfect backdrop for your journey of self-discovery. You’ll find that the tranquil surroundings and harmonious living spaces enhance your yoga experience, fostering deeper connections both with yourself and with your fellow trainees.

What’s the food like?

Food in a yoga teacher training is more than just fuel; it’s a vital part of your holistic journey. The yogic diet mostly consists of vegetarian meals as a practice of “Ahimsa”, a yogic principle that teaches to do no harm to yourself or others… such as animals. Instead, take this opportunity to savor vibrant, locally-sourced meals that nourish your body and soul.

What’s the daily schedule like?

A typical day in a yoga teacher training in Mexico is a well-rounded blend of practice, study, reflection, and rest. You’ll start your days with meditation and yoga practice, followed by nourishing breakfasts and engaging lectures. Afternoons might include workshops, study time, or practice teaching sessions. Of course, there’s always time for relaxation and introspection. Think of it as a rhythm of learning and living that supports your growth as a yogi, ensuring that by the end of the course, you are not just certified, but truly transformed.

Full disclosure, I used to work with BookRetreats, the platform I’ll be using to make these recommendations. Everyone over there really loves what they do and cares about your experience, so I can happily say it’s the company I genuinely recommend. They also guarantee the lowest price, so you’ll get the best savings with BookRetreats. And if you end up booking with them, you’ll get a free online yoga retreat where Yours Truly leads a traditional Hatha Tantra yoga class. 💃
